Analysts are *not* like used car salesmen, no matter who says otherwise

It came to my attention today that the other day when I put up the post about briefings that don’t suck, I inadvertently drew a parallel between analysts and used car salesmen. Whoops!

That’s funny in its way I suppose, but definitely not what I was going for. I was looking for an example that everyone could relate to – and I figured it would “personalize” the example to find something that you might mention to a buddy in the normal course of having a discussion with them – something where you, as a friend, might have a “professional” opinion about their anticipated course of action. I happened to settle on the “car salesman” analogy, which as it turns out, probably could have been better chosen.

Anyway, I just wanted to go on record saying that the parallel was unintentional…
